About
Derek Wood is a Project Developer at Mountainwood Homes and assists with operations and finance.
As a former accountant, Derek draws on his financial background to help clients navigate the numbers.
He is involved in all aspects of the business, from meeting with clients in their homes to collaborating with the CAD and Design teams, participating in design meetings, and getting to his favorite part of the process—the presentation.
“It’s my opportunity to show the client the scope of work, the design, the budget, and how we’ve come up with a solution that works for them,” he adds. “It’s a fun meeting that ensures we’re all on the same page as we work together going forward with our partnership.”
He’s quick with the numbers, and his degree in accounting is very much appreciated as we turn to him for help with Excel spreadsheets.
Derek is patient and explains complex ideas in easy-to-understand soundbites (it must be because he has always wanted to be a middle or high school teacher).
When he’s not at work, you can find him on the golf course or exploring the outdoors around Portland with his wife and three kids. He looks forward to hunting one weekend a year and getting out on the water to go fishing whenever he can.
